Like the subtly deep, slowburn dream-pop R&B found on the album, White Hinterland’s Kairos has calmly, cooly been winning over hearts of music fan and critic alike. It seems with each day, a new champion of Kairos steps forward. Just this afternoon, NPR selected Kairos’ opener “Icarus” as its Song Of The Day, saying of the jam: “It’s hypnagogic, certainly, but also transformative — these are the sort of reveries that can feed an appetite for wanderlust or make listeners ache for home, depending on the context.”
On Friday, White Hinterland begins a massive world tour that will see the band playing with Minneapolis’ Dosh across North America, and joining fellow dream-pop masters Beach House in London and Paris. Of super-special note: Next weekend’s Cleveland date brings with it a pair of Record Store Day celebration instore performances from White Hinterland’s Casey Dienel and Shawn Creedon. White Hinterland will be at Toledo’s Culture Clash store at noon and DJing at Cleveland’s Music Saves at 4:30 p.m. Lake Erie friends, please stop by to say “hello.”
