Dangerbird Records is pleased to announce Milwaukee mainstays Maritime are the newest members of their expanding family. The band, which spawned from the ashes of The Promise Ring in 2003, is currently readying new material for release later this year. This latest signing for the Los Angeles-based label is somewhat of a reunion, as Milwaukee native Jeff Castelaz, co-owner and CEO of Dangerbird, has an extensive history with the band, which dates back to his days managing The Promise Ring. Both Maritime singer Davey von Bohlen and drummer Dan Didier were founding members of The Promise Ring.

Recently, Maritime took part in The Onion AV Club’s “Undercover” series, where 25 bands reinterpret 25 classic indie and alternative rock songs. Their take on the Depeche Mode staple, “Enjoy the Silence,” which has been smoothed out and injected with a healthy dose of keytar, can be heard here: http://www.avclub.com/articles/depeche-mode,38864/

Hailed for their keen sense of pop songcraft and rollicking live shows, Maritime will perform songs from their extensive catalog this Friday, April 30 at University of Wisconsin, in Madison, WI.

Since its founding in 2004 by Jeff Castelaz and Peter Walker, Dangerbird has grown to include six divisions – records, management, music publishing, merchandising, licensing and a recording studio. The Dangerbird Records roster includes Grammy-nominated Silversun Pickups, Sea Wolf, Minus the Bear, Darker My Love, Eulogies, Codeine Velvet Club, Hot Hot Heat, Delphic and others. Dangerbird Management represents Eagles of Death Metal, The Fratellis, producer Tony Hoffer and others. Dangerbird’s licensing arm represents outside artists such as Portugal. The Man, The Boxer Rebellion and others.
