DJ A-Trak and OBEY launch the official Dirty South Dance 2 Deluxe Pack, exclusive to www.obeygiant.com / www.obeyclothing.com and a handful of select shops worldwide. In addition to the mixtape’s CD release, the Dirty South Dance 2 Deluxe Pack includes a limited-edition T-Shirt and screen-printed poster featuring new visual packaging by OBEY’s Shepard Fairey.

After the success of the first DSD installment in 2007 through OBEY Records, both A-Trak and OBEY have been eagerly awaiting their collaboration for 2. First offered as a free download this May on A-Trak’s blog, DSD2 expands on the blueprint of bootlegs and edits pairing notable Southern rap verses with equally cutting-edge electronic dance anthems. The end result seamlessly enhances the best qualities of both musical components to deliver a future-thinking mix as inventive in 2010 as his initial concept. Following its digital release, DSD2 subsequently saturated the internet, garnering praise from Pitchfork and The Fader, among countless others. A-Trak adds, “It was really gratifying to make this mixtape a free download, to give music away to my fans and watch the response in real time.”

Highly renowned for their forward-thinking efforts in their respective fields of music and visual art, OBEY Records and A-Trak have been eagerly awaiting their collaboration on this project. The success of the first DSD installment soon followed creative breakthroughs for both parties. A-Trak’s prolific production and remix work spurred collaborations with Nike+ for his Running Man mix, two mixtapes released by Fabric and Thrive Records in 2009, a partnership with Armand Van Helden as Duck Sauce, and last but not least, founding his own label, Fool’s Gold Records, with Nick Catchdubs. Shepard Fairey, creator of OBEY Giant and OBEY Clothing, has successfully weaved his vision around the world with his iconic imagery and distinct style of art. Since the first DSD, Shepard has expanded his body of work, both on the street as well as fine art galleries around the world including his 20 year retrospective poster tour and his most recent collection, MAY DAY at Deitch Projects, New York. Never one to rest on past achievements, OBEY continues to evolve as a brand, and a lifestyle for all to enjoy.
