After two years of relentless touring Los Angeles based neo-classical death metal unit EXMORTUS is back on the war path and getting ready to head into the studio to record a follow up to their heralded debut album In Hatred’s Flame released on Heavy Artillery Records in late 2008. Since the departure of former vocalist and guitarist Balmore earlier this year, EXMORTUS have recruited new guitarist Sean Redline while lead shredder/songwriter Conan has also taken over vocal duties giving EXMORTUS an even more brutal death-tinged edge than before. The band has recorded a two-track demo to give fans a taste of what to expect from the new line-up and the yet-unnamed new album tentatively scheduled for release during spring 2011. Initially making a name for themselves with their relentless gigging throughout the LA metal underground, EXMORTUS hit the ground running with the release of their debut album In Hatred’s Flames during July 2008. Following the album’s release, EXMORTUS hit the road for what would become two years of virtually non-stop touring in support of In Hatreds Flame. During spring 2010, the band was once again faced with a line-up change, this time with the departure of vocalist/second guitarist Balmore. Such a blow might prove a major setback for a lesser band however EXMORTUS immediately rebounded stronger than ever, with lead guitarist Conan taking over vocal duties and new guitarist Sean Redline stepping in to fill the demanding position of second lead shredder. Reinvigorated and refocused with their new line-up, the band hit the studio in May 2010 to lay down two brand new tracks demonstrating the band’s new and even more aggressive approach. Tentative plans for a return to the studio to record the band’s sophomore album are being made now for late summer 2010.

EXMORTUS are an entity amongst themselves and their music, both complex and thoroughly hook-laden, refuses to lend itself to easy categorization. From the technical death-thrash riffage and surgically precise drumming to their neo-classical, twin virtuoso lead guitar attack, fans of death metal, thrash, prog metal, traditional heavy metal and all true metal sub-genres alike enjoy having their craniums crushed by the fury of EXMORTUS.
