What individuals smell when they first open a spirit, whether it be Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey, or Gin, is not necessarily an indication of what is to follow. This is perfectly encapsulated with Herradura Tequila, which has a strong, biting aroma that immediately assaults imbibers’ noses as soon as the bottle is crack. The color of the spirit seems to be right in the middle of the Reposado range, not as light as a Don Eduardo but not as deep and rich as a Tonala. Regardless, the Herradura Reposado Tequila is something that individuals can enjoy considerably at a price that is quite reasonable; sliding in at a hair under $45, it looks to dethrone Patron and install itself as the ultra-premium tequila at a reasonable price.

The tequila shines well in whatever position people throw it in; Herradura is a straight shooting star, but it works quite well in a Tequila Sunrise or a Marguerita. If you are a fan of tequilas, make it a point to search out your local liquor store that shelves Herradura tequila, and in particular, their Reposado. There is just a more complex taste to Herradura that just is not present is other similar tequilas, and this is the reason that Herradura should be supported over other similar types of Tequila.

The spirit itself goes down smoothly, but will require that drinkers go through a number of experiences before they fully recognize exactly what Herradura is trying to impart upon the drinker experience-wise. It is precisely this level of complexity that turns me from someone that is not a big fan of Tequila generally into someone that will only drink Herradura as a tequila of choice. If you have been similarly burned by tequila in the past, Herradura may make a similar convert out of you.
