Sweethead, the new group created by Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Failure) and fronted by lead vocalist Serrina Sims, released their debut album last month (The End Records) and just announced a handful of new dates in the western US.

Sweethead also features Eddie Nappi on bass (Mark Lanegan Band, Handsome), and Norm Block on drums (Mark Lanegan Band, Plexi) and the band recently took up residency at LA’s Spaceland before jetting to Europe and the UK for a series of festival performances and headline club dates. The band starts back up in the US on July 14 in Los Angeles and currently wraps in Seattle, Washington on July 22. More dates will be announced shortly.

Flavorpill remarked that the album is, “Heavy, seductive , fast, and a little sharp around the edges…” and that lead vocalist Serrina Sims is “already earning comparison to some of the hardest rocking leather-clad rocker chicks around (think Chrissy Hynde and Joan Jett in a Russ Meyer fight scene).”

Sweethead’s latest video for the track “Traumatized and Dumb” can currently be seen on Vimeo: www.vimeo.com/10934259
