First Aid Kit has announced the dates of their second North American headlining tour. The tour begins September 30th and will take the Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg from the Vera Project in Seattle, WA, all the way across the country to DC9 in Washington, DC, on October 20th.

Following the May 25th stateside release of their debut full-length The Big Black & The Blue (Wichita), First Aid Kit completed their first U.S. tour in June. They charmed fans and critics alike in each city with their enchanting songs, witty onstage banter, and soaring harmonies that would make even the Everly Brothers blush. Praise for both their album and live show has been steadily rolling out: while Nylon remarked on First Aid Kit’s talent for “writing beguiling folk ballads that sound like old standards, yet seem totally fresh”, noted blog Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good urged following their Seattle show “Take my word for it, if you ever get the opportunity to see these girls live, do it. It’ll change your life.”

The run concluded with a sold-out debut performance at New York City’s Mercury Lounge on June 16th, which featured an emotional rendition of album standout “Ghost Town,” the sisters genuinely overcome by the enthusiastic reception of their first stateside tour. A live video of the young duo performing the poignant track without microphones and directly from the stage front – the approach they had taken to playing it throughout the tour – to a rapt audience at the Bell House in Brooklyn, NY, can also now be seen here.

“Touring in America was a dream come true. To finally get to see these places we’ve heard so much about for the first time was really special,” they reflect. “We had a blast and felt warmly welcomed. It was an adventure, and we’re looking forward to many more adventures. We are really excited to get to come back in October!”

First Aid Kit recorded and co-produced The Big Black & The Blue with their father, Benkt Söderberg, throughout 2008-9 at their Enskede, Sweden home studio, Cellar Door. The album shines with the sisters’ wise-beyond-their-years storytelling and songwriting abilities, from the opening acoustic strums of “In The Morning” to the rousing, rolling “Hard Believer” to the loose swing of “Heavy Storm” and spirited “I Met Up With The King.” First Aid Kit released their debut EP, Drunken Trees, in 2008 (initially on The Knife-own label Rabid, with a re-release by Wichita in 2009).
