With TRUTHLiVE’s new album, the Jake One-produced Patience, continuing to create waves, he’s excited to release a brand new music video for the album’s latest single, “Ready Set Go.” Premiering on mtvU and mtvU.com, the song features fellow KMEL Freshmen 10 selection and Interdependent Media recording artist Moe Green, who just released a new album of his own, Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match. Joining TRUTHLiVE and Moe Green in the video are a number of special cameos. It begins with the two Bay Area emcees performing amidst a washed out urban landscape, the only color coming from the clothes they wear. As they continue to rhyme and pass off the mic, though, their surroundings gradually fill in, and the once bleak background becomes (almost) as rich and vibrant as their lyrics. “Part of the ‘dream’ is keeping the art honest,” explains TRUTHLiVE, and the video serves as the perfect metaphor for the rappers’ goal to restore artistic integrity to the music and the culture. “Myself and my team are ready to make the most of the opportunities provided through music,” TRUTHLiVE says of the song. With this eye-popping new clip, it seems like the opportunities are endless.

The “Ready Set Go” video can be streamed on mtvU.com or seen as a part of mtvU’s rotation on television screens across the country.

The Background:

Evan “TRUTHLiVE” Phillips, owner and founder of Interdependent Media, has certainly made his mark in the music industry with his wide range of talents. As an emcee, DJ, entrepreneur, and artist, TRUTHLiVE has had his hands in everything from a very young age. After a traumatic adolescent period where his health was at risk, three heart surgeries proved the artist to be quite a fighter. He explains to his new listeners, “The name TRUTHLiVE doesn’t mean that I’m proclaiming myself as the truth, end-all be-all; it’s more of a reminder to myself on how to conduct my life and career.” The MC best summates, “My music is my truth and my life.” That meaningful music is available now in the form of Patience, TRUTHLiVE’s debut release, courtesy of Bay Area label Interdependent Media.
