Fountains of Wayne guitarist Jody Porter released his solo debut Close To The Sun via Engine Room Recordings in May and will be hitting the road next month for a few select Northeast dates. Porter and his band will be at Rockwood Stage 2 in NYC on Aug 13, Lizard Lounge in Boston on Aug 14 & North Star Bar in Philly on Aug 20.

MAGNET recently posted a free mp3 of “Aurora” and said of Close To The Sun:
“Of course, it’s heavily guitar driven and very clean, giving the music an almost U2-esque sound, without all the pretension. Porter’s vocals are wonderful and flow so well with the music. First single ‘Aurora’ is a bluesy pop number with some genuine emotion behind it.”
