For the last few months, I have been lucky enough to be on the deep elm mailing list, and this album was actually one of the first I received, but due to some problems I was not able to review it until this late date. Thee music on this disc is precisely the type that you would find on deep elm – moody, contemplative, and more inclined towards the instrumental side of things as opposed to those bands that only focus on the lyrics and like. What is made with this album is a good mish-mash of very brooding sounds, like Nine Inch Nails and 80’s-era cure, and lyrics that just strike at the heart of any listener. The album is only forty minutes and yet it feels like the disc has gone on for hours. I believe that this would be utterly perfect sleeping music, or maybe even stuff to mediate to. While the sound of the music could techinically be on the radio, the sound of any track on the disc is simply too much to be played on it – there just are too many layers of sound and meaning one has to go through before they could even properly digest the song. Pick this up from any reputable record store, or from Deep Elm directly.
