Maroon 5 made it big a few years back with their track “This Love”. Well, it is a few years after their last album “Songs About Jane” (5, actually), and the band is back with this, their first cut off of “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long”. As for the value of this single, there are only two tracks on the disc, and they represent the clean and album tracks of “Makes Me Wonder”. So, if you are looking for exclusive content or tracks that have not been on any prior Maroon 5 album, you are not going to get it on this album. However, are the two tracks together worth whatever is being charged for this disc? There is a lot of white-boy funk present on the track, but the highly-distorted guitars that oopen up the song really create some dissonance with the vocals. There is a mixture present of “Love Liberty Disco”-era Newsboys and Justin Timberlake. I have little doubt in my mind that the band will make it big again with this track, but the song really does not provide anything new to the realm of pop rock music. If anything, it is a less-catchy version of their other hits, and the buzzing present during the track is enough to make individuals turn off the track.

Rating: 3.5/10
