Not since Peaches has an artist turned electro sexuality on its head like NYC’s electro-glam outfit NAKED HIGHWAY and its new album MOST HOTTEST! (Disco Life! Records). Fueled with the enough pheronome-filled beats that would make Prince blush, the new single “IN & OUT” is a funk-filled, erotic romp, not coy about its lyrics or its intentions. “Musically, it was inspired by 80’s freestyle,” says Naked Highway mastermind Sy Boccari. “Lyrically, I imagined myself as a modern-day George Clinton or Rick James trying to seduce a woman. I think those guys would very explicitly say, ‘I wanna work you in and out’ and not be all coy about it at all.”

Its accompanying video is a very faithful tribute to electronic godfathers New Order and their iconic video for the single “Round & Round.” “That New Order video is one of the sexiest videos ever made, even though you never see below the shoulders of the female models,” he explains. “Instead of using 18 year old women models like New Order did, I used 30-something guys from the scene in New York – guys who I think are very sexy but aren’t the cookie-cutter, tween-centered, pre-pubescent (ie. Justin Bieber) idea of sexy that is being shoved down our throats at the moment… go-go ‘men’, DJs, porn stars, party promotors and some very dear friends of mine. It’s my idea of sexy.” Among the men in the video are Doug Repetti (model, musician), Duane Roggendorff (party promoter, blogger), Jonny Mack (DJ, go-go ‘bear’), W. Jeremy Pelser (international DJ/remixer for House of Stank), Mike Dreyden (adult film star), Reed McGowan (DJ/remixer), and assorted friends. Inspired by artists as diverse as Rufus & Chaka Khan, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Grace Jones, Depeche Mode, and Alice in Chains, Naked Highway’s Most Hottest contains tracks like the gritty garage of “Rock Hard”, the New Wave electro of “Shorty the Pimp” and the synthpop of “Wet Like Sweat” (each of these tracks’ video received considerable spins on LOGO, Vh1 and mtvU). He explains, “We approached this album with the question,’What would happen if Rick James and Quincy Jones made a new wave dance pop album?'” The result is a genre-bending blend of club music, old-skool rap, Latin freestyle and New Wave. Rhythmic beats pulse through Splenda™-sweetened synths and guitars and provide the pillars for their signature brand of downtown attitude and showmanship.

Naked Highway has supported artists such as Darren Hayes, Kelly Osbourne, Freezepop, Hong Kong Counterfeit, Kudu, My Robot Friend, Cazwell, Nada Surf, and Massive Attack vocalist Debbie Claire. His unique fusion of dance/electronica and New Wave Rock has also created a demand for remix work from major label acts such as Rihanna (“Breaking Dishes”), Lady GaGa (“Lovegame”), and The Presets (“If I Know You”).

Naked Highway is Sy Boccari (vocals/instruments), Kimberly Koo (synths), and Lara Yaz (synths). The album MOST HOTTEST! was released Spring 2010 and is available now.
