Standout artist Riva Starr has been nominated for a prestigious DJ Award after an unparalleled year that has already seen him hailed as “dance music’s future star” by Q Magazine.

Like all the great names in dance music the Riva Starr sound is very distinctive, uniting many different styles under one groove. Fans of Riva’s exciting music are as wide-ranging as Gilles Peterson, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Ricardo Villalobos and Annie Mac.

Riva’s gigs take him on a global tour, from clubs such as Cocoon, Pacha, Womb, Space & Avalon, to festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Dance Valley and Creamfields. Whilst releasing remarkable dance floor material, Riva continues to take his devoted energy around the world with almost whiplash acceleration, ticking off almost each and every continent.

With an already impressive catalogue including top notch remixes and releases on key dance labels, his huge track “I Was Drunk” has gained great support at Radio 1 and amongst the DJ elite. It is a massive hit on the dancefloor too – the Glastonbury crowd were singing along when Riva finished his energetic set with the anthem. The single has recently been snapped up by major label Positiva, which is due for release in August 2010. His remix of Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” which featured on Riva’s recent “Defected In The House – Miami 2010” compilation, was arguably one of this year’s most talked about records.

Make sure the 13th edition of the DJ Awards is lucky for Riva!
