Los Angeles experimental rock quintet Vanaprasta will be releasing a 7-inch vinyl featuring the tracks Skinny State and Minnesota from their forthcoming full-length record Healthy Geometry on September 27th. The 7-inch can be pre-ordered at a discounted price until the 27th.

Healthy Geometry explores the expansive landscape of the band’s musical influences. Vanaprasta’s heavy, bluesy riffs mesh with angular guitars, three part harmonies, pounding rhythms and ethereal sounds. The exhilarating end result is one cohesively and expertly crafted album. Having recorded the majority of the record in Portland and at some of the most prestigious studios in Los Angeles, the band still wasn’t able to capture the exact sound they were looking for. Into the picture walks Manny Nieto (HEALTH, The Breeders).

“Manny ended up taking our record and bringing all the tones out of the mix with this amazing room sound he has learned to use. The result was us immediately sounding bigger, trashier and much more raw. Minnesota and Skinny State were two of three tracks that were completely recorded in Manny’s studio. I think the 7 inch shows a level that we wanted to take our music to that we would have never been able to get to unless we worked with Manny,“ says guitarist Collin Desha. To top it off, the record was mastered by another well-known LA local Dave Cooley (Silversun Pickups, Local Natives).

Having formed in 2008, Vanaprasta have quickly become one of the most exciting and buzzed about bands in Los Angeles, due to their explosive live shows and critically acclaimed debut EP “Forming the Shapes.” Vanaprasta were an LA Weekly top pick for the Sunset Strip Music Festival, where they shared the bill with legendary rockers The Smashing Pumpkins and Slash along with up and comers Neon Trees and Semi Precious Weapons.

Vanaprasta will be continuing their Monday night residency at the Echo for the month of September and will be playing Healthy Geometry in its entirety on the 27th.
