Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Art of Dying is the first act to be signed to Intoxication/Reprise Records, the label launched by David Draiman and Dan Donegan of the multi-platinum-selling band Disturbed. Look for Art of Dying on the road with Disturbed for a string of dates that kicks off on October 15 in Detroit.

“Art of Dying caught our attention with the great hooks that they write! Powerful vocals with great musicianship. After meeting them and seeing them perform, it was clear how much that music is their life! They live the lifestyle 24/7, constantly writing, rehearsing, and performing. You’d have to pull them offstage, because if it was up to them they’d play all night!” — David Draiman and Dan Donegan of Disturbed/Intoxication Records

Art of Dying recently wrapped up recording their debut worldwide release, produced by two-time Grammy nominee Howard Benson and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge to be released early 2011.

Art of Dying is –
Jonny Hetherington – Vocals
Greg Bradley – Guitar
Jeff Brown – Drums
Cale Gontier – Bass
Tavis Stanley – Guitar

So what is the ‘Art of Dying’?

It’s how you live your life, how you embrace it, and what you do with your time while you’re here. It’s your life to live, and that’s exactly what Art of Dying is doing.

“For as long as I can remember I’ve lived by the code: “Hope for the best, plan for the worst, live life to the fullest. I’ve always believed that life is precious and our time here is important. When my father was diagnosed with cancer it reinforced this thought exponentially. It also reminded me that one of the only guarantees in life is death. Music has been my friend and savior through all of my experiences and following my dream has lead me to believe that the art of dying is my life to live”
– AOD Frontman Jonny Hetherington

The band has built a dedicated international following since 2006 touring with Disturbed and Seether, as well as performing at international festivals Download and The Virgin Festival alongside artists such as Tool, Metallica, and 3 Doors Down.

Kerrang! Magazine calls them “heavy crowd pleasers”, while Classic Rock Magazine raved about their “epic post-grunge sound.” Metal Hammer deemed the band a “Moving Listen”.

Art of Dying was nominated for a 2009 CRMA (Canadian Radio Music Award) in the category of “Best New Group.”
