I’m pleased to announce the next single on Transparent, “Solo (4 Claire) / Rot My Brain Away” 7″ – by Pittsburgh future-pop artist Christopher Laufman, better known as Wise Blood. The double A side 7″ is to be his first physical release following the success of self-released, download-only EP “+”. Wise Blood’s songs are warped, screwed collages that are both weirdo party jams and finely detailed compositions, Laufman blowing-up tiny sample fragments into bombastic loops that equally reveal touches of R’n’B sass, psychedelic tropicalia and garage-pop snottiness in their hypnotic, sunshine mechanics. The amorous, irreverent “Solo (4 Claire)”, is a bit of a stylistic departure from the previous EP, trading hip-hop bounce for future-glam stomp, but just serves to prove further the limitless nature of Laufman’s ultra-modern, magpie-like scope – re-imagining him as a kind of androgynous, snake-hipped, Bolan-in-space figure, those half-familiar rasping vocals re-contextualised amidst a flurry of dreamy dub and through-the-red noise.

“Solo (4 Claire)” / “Rot My Brain Away” is released through Transparent in November. 300 7″ only.

Wise Blood will also be taking his show on the road for the first time opening for Apache Beat in NYC and a couple special gigs during CMJ.
