Last week, RCRDLBL gave you your first sampling of White Sea with the gorgeously haunting “Mountaineer,” a track they described as “racked with vocal crescendos and homecoming drums-a breathy beauty.” Now, Urban Outfitters, which selectively curates its new musical discoveries, has handpicked White Sea and is offering the five-song debut EP, This Frontier, for exclusive free download all week.

The solo project of M83’s Morgan Kibby, White Sea’s innagural EP was conceived, recorded and produced nearly entirely by herself after a nearly three-year stint of writing, recording and performing on stage with M83. This Frontier embodies the multifaceted nature of Kibby’s cosmos, which draws inspiration from disco bass lines, ’60s spaghetti westerns and the envelope-pushing work of Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks. The album explodes with cinematic crescendos, tinkling chimes, shining harmonies, dramatic bass lines, party beats, tempered synthesizers, all threaded by Kibby’s unmistakable, angelic voice.
