Delerium is an eclectic band, to say the least. More than just an alternative type of act, they incorporate ethereal, electronic, and even world music into something that is wholly unique. Nearing their twenty-fifth year as an act (being founded in 1987), this Front Line Assembly-side project is so much more. “Epiphany” showcases a side of the act that few have seen; far from studio recordings like “Morpheus” or Semantic Spaces”, this DVD captures a live performance by the band from October 2008. With twelve performances running the gamut between new and old, this Washington D.C. date showcases the band at their finest.

The band immediately gets listeners into the groove with “Angelicus”. Never pulling a punch, Delerium moves rapidly into “Love” and “After All” before going for the gusto with “Terra Firma”. Where a number of acts are more than content working up towards a hard-hitting conclusion, I feel that Delerium’s performance here never once falters. While it is true that late-performance tracks like “Incantation” and “Forgotten Worlds” are simply sublime, the band takes virtually no time warming up for their audience.

Where the footage of this concert represents more than enough in the way of value, MVD and Nasty Byte have included a short film, Delerius. This is a valuable look into the more everyday, human aspect to the band and their massive fan base. If you are a fan of Delerium or just want to see what all the hubbub is about, make it a point to pick up this DVD today.
