THE WRETCHED END features ex-Emperor/ex-Zyklon guitarist Samoth, Mindgrinder/ex-Scum guitarist Cosmo and ex-Dark Funeral/ex-Aeon drummer Nils Fjellström. “Zoo Human Syndrome” comes off the band’s recently released Candlelight debut entitled Ominous.

Said Samoth of the track: “‘Zoo Human Syndrome’ is the last song on the album, and it’s one of my favorites actually. It’s quite melodic and atmospheric with a more epic feel. This one definitely has some black metal influences and I feel at this point that we’ll be working more within this territory for newer material. Conceptually, it deals with nature deficit disorder. Basically, it’s the soundtrack to zoo-like humans trapped in the digital chaos of the modern world. In today’s society we are stuck in small boxes, be it offices, shopping malls, etc. where we get hit by insane amounts of flickering lights of all kinds of so called ‘important’ information. We are removed from nature.”

THE WRETCHED END formed in 2008 as a creative collaboration between Samoth and Cosmo, who previously worked together in deathpunk project Scum. In addition, Cosmo played bass with Zyklon when the band toured Europe 2001 with Morbid Angel. The two have long spoken about an extreme metal project and thus, THE WRETCHED END was born.
