The white vinyl 7-inch with a custom printed sleeve is now available via the Theory 8 website and a download card for MP3s of the two tracks is included with each copy. A digital download version is also available at all major digital retailers and includes the bonus track “Shut Your Eyes”, a demo of “Reluctance,” and a radio edit of “Two Hearts.”

AOL Music’s Spinner blog has a full stream of the digital download version of Two Hearts/Reluctance all week here. Late last month, FilterMagazine.com premiered the Chad Hartigan-directed video for “Two Hearts,” while the MP3 of the song premiered in early November on Popmatters (download here). DeWitt recently braved a frosty Paris night to film acoustic versions of “Two Hearts” and “Reluctance” for a session with French webzine Le Cargo. Fans can also grab a free holiday download of his song “Christmas Eve” here, first released last year on his Christmas Eve EP.

Both songs on Two Hearts/Reluctance were written this summer while DeWitt toured in promotion of his recent Nothing Shows EP (released exclusively through Daytrotter). The tracks expand upon the cinematic, orchestral feel of Nothing Shows and find DeWitt moving in a notably different direction than either the EP or his 2009 debut full-length, Islands (Izumi Records). The driving, dance-inflected pop of “Two Hearts” follows in the footsteps of Nothing Shows’ propulsive, rhythmic closer “Hearts Beat Loud” and the delicate, shimmering uncertainty of “Reluctance” – featuring vocals by Isaaca Byrd of The Bridges – might be the prettiest song he’s penned. Two Hearts/Reluctance also continues DeWitt’s passage from a solo singer/songwriter to a collaborator: the songs were written to be played live with his current touring band of Byrd, Matt Shaw (Hymns), Jeremy Bullock (Pico vs. Island Trees), and Dylon York (Band Marino), who back him on the recordings.
