Underground rap is always really hit or miss, and Proverb’s self-titled single, “Proverbs” exemplifies that to a t. With a loud synth line struggling to overtake Proverb’s flow. In fact, Proverb seems a little compressed in eir music, with the lush synth choking eir slowly. The hook is found on the earliest seconds of the disc and really amounts to a premature ejaculation on the tack. While Proverb tries to wow with eir flow, each line bogs down with the incredible amount of syllables found. The production value on “Proverbs” is fairly high, with only the aforementioned problem concerning the extremely high level of the the backing beat. While a single is probably the worst way to judge an act, Proverb just stays the course for this track and finds eirself being nothing better or worse than average. Hopefully an EP or LP can come out for individuals to get a better idea of where Proverb is coming from and what all ey has in eir. 15 is young to start out, and ey can only get better from here.
