Roach Gigz released his new mixtape, Roachy Balboa 2, earlier this month and already the project, which serves as the follow up to Gigz’ first Roachy Balboa mixtape released last May, is being met with strong feedback and positive reviews. With a number of videos planned to drop over the coming months, including a forthcoming video for the previously released single “Syrup Thighs,” Roach continues to release new singles from the mixtape.

While previous singles from RB2 have shown off Roach’s ability to craft up-tempo anthems (“The Dopest 2”) and seamlessly collaborate with other artists (“Hold Up” featuring J Stalin), this new single finds the San Francisco-bred MC slowing down the pace and turning the mood a few notches darker as he puts his knack for story telling on display. Delving into a tale of shady show promoters, drugs, police stops, women, and bouts with financial trouble, Roach weaves a story of despair in his substance-induced drawl, rapping, “I long for liquor and pills to replace life’s ills.”
