Many have claimed to be the 5th Beatle but there is one man however who was employed to by The Beatles themselves to fulfill that role..

That man was Billy Preston.

Born a full 18 years before the repeal of The Jim Crow Laws in Texas, with one of the finest Afro’s in The Western Hemisphere, Billy Preston was not the most likely Mop Top.

Feb 8: 108: Ticket To Ride – Jenny Dee & The Dreams

The Beatles main songwriting competitors were not Jagger/Richards from The Rolling Stones.

The only other songwriting team on the planet were even close were Holland/Dozier/Holland, cranking out hit after hit for Motown.

This week at TBCOU we compare and contrast the styles of these two songwriting teams and how they influenced one another.

Their version of Ticket To Ride is recorded as if it was part of The Motown Collection.
