The last few years have been exciting ones for NY’s Polar Bear Club. 2009 saw the release of their landmark album, Chasing Hamburg, which was named one of Alternative Press’ Most Anticipated Albums of the year and absolutely lived up to the acclaim. The band graced the covers of magazines like AMP and Alternative Press and became critic’s darlings for their music and live performances alike. Polar Bear Club went on to tour the world several times over in support of Chasing Hamburg, having shared the stage with the likes of The Gaslight Anthem, Strike Anywhere, and Every Time I Die and closed out 2010 on the AP Tour with Bring Me The Horizon.

Fast forward to 2011 and Polar Bear Club recently hit Australia for Sound Wave Festival and, starting this week, will be recording a brand new full-length album with producer Brian McTernan. Known for his work with bands like Circa Survive, Thrice, Hot Water Music and more, McTernan is the perfect man to capture what will become their yet-to-be-titled third full-length album (second for Bridge Nine Records). Vocalist Jimmy Stadt said “Everyone says how excited they are about their new record and we are no exception. We really have never been this excited about making a record and cannot wait to have it out there. It’s PBC for sure and you can decide what’s different about it from prior records for yourselves – the bottom line is we are thrilled about these songs and feel like we are in a really good place as a band as a result of them.” Release specifics are still under wraps, but expect the record to hit stores some time this summer with details to surface soon.

Upon completion of their new album, Polar Bear Club will tour North America in April as support on the upcoming Take Action Tour. Featuring Bayside, Silverstein, The Swellers, Polar Bear Club and Texas In July, the Take Action Tour will benefit SEX, ETC., the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project of Answer, a national organization dedicated to providing and promoting comprehensive sexuality education to young people and the adults who teach them. Stay tuned for more information on the forthcoming new album from Polar Bear Club and the Take Action Tour!
