A show like The Venture Bros. could only exist on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. Equally as impressive as anything the channel has turned out before from Aqua Teen Hunger Force to Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros. centers around the clueless brothers Dean and Hank Venture, their madman/ultimately an ok guy scientist father and his bodyguards.

Four years into it and the series is still consistently laugh-out-loud funny (particular on the DVDs where the cartoons characters are allowed to curse freely, like God intended). The second half of season four finds the brothers trying to get into college, Dean moving to New York to take an internship, joined by his father desperate to pen the next Starlight Express and in the stellar season ender, prom night for the home schooled brothers.

The DVD also comes with sidesplitting commentary by the show’s creators. Part Johnny Quest and part Arrested Development, The Venture Bros. is proof that the great sitcoms didn’t die off when Seinfeld and Cheers left the air, they simply took cartoon form and moved to Adult Swim.
