Coming off a successful SXSW, and recent nomination for Best New Artist at The Austin Music Awards, Candi and The Strangers drop their video for album single, “Glide”, this week. Directed and filmed completely by the band’s own John and Samantha Constant, for their House of Constant imprint, the video combines video projection, stop-motion animation and live footage to follow a non-sentient android through a post-apocolyptic waste land of pop imagery as it rescues an injured subversive leader from the futuristic police state that’s after her.

Candi And The Strangers wrote the entirety of ’10th of Always’, soon after producer Erik Wofford (Maserati,The Black Angels, Voxtrot, The Octopus Project, Explosions In The Sky) joined the band in early 2009. The songs were arranged to convey a grand cinematic feel in a live context, enhanced through live visualizations. Candi And The Strangers combine their psychedelic live set with dark angelic orchestrations inspired from their film score work during 2009 and 2010 to make a sonic landscape reminiscent of French dream pop. They will spend the rest of 2011 furthering their relationship to sight and sound, more film score work, and the continuing work on the band’s upcoming audio-visual full-length animation feature titled Children Of The Tone.
