Cambodian and American rock band DENGUE FEVER (www.denguefevermusic.com) announced today that they have been selected to perform at the Ray Davies‘ Meltdown Festival (http://meltdown.southbankcentre.co.uk ) in London, as well as at the Glastonbury Festival (www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk) this June.

DENGUE FEVER was selected by Meltdown Guest Director Ray Davies to headline the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre on Sunday June 12. Direct support will be announced shortly. Twelve days later, Dengue Fever will return to the U.K. to perform for the second time at Glastonbury on June 24. Additional European and S.E. Asian dates are planned as well. More details on stage, set time, other performers and more will be announced shortly.

2011 is shaping up to be another busy year on the road for DENGUE FEVER in the states and abroad. Since 2008 when the band made their U.K. debut at the Borderline in London, the band has returned annually to play venues large and small, from ICA, the Jazz Café and the Scala to festivals such as WOMAD, Larmertree, Wychwood, Summer Sundae & Beautiful Days. The band has toured throughout the world playing to audiences in Russia, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Spain, Czech Republic, Portugal, Canada, The Netherlands, France, Germany and New Zealand. Festival shows have included Rencontres Trans Musicales de Rennes, Hove, Roskilde, Peace and Love, Bergenfest, Quebec City Festival, WOMADelaide, WOMAD NZ, Oya, Electric Picnic and Melbourne Festival.

Ray Davies spoke glowingly of DENGUE FEVER when the band made their British television debut on the BBC’s Later With Jools Holland, prior to his sit down interview on the program in 2009. He said of the band on the air, “They sound like a cross between Led Zeppelin and Blondie – and I should know, I’ve toured with both!” DENGUE FEVER are major fans of Ray Davies and the Kinks, so hearing this from a few feet away on the set was both surreal and astonishing.

DENGUE FEVER’s latest album Cannibal Courtship is released on April 19 in North America and throughout the world. Cannibal Courtship is DENGUE FEVER’s fourth full-length release and their first for Concord Music Group’s Fantasy Records imprint. MOJO Magazine recently gave Cannibal Courtship a 4-star review in the May issue and said of the album, “…it might just be the best thing they have ever done.”

Additional details on tour dates, events, band news and more will be announced shortly.
