We were lucky enough to review the first half of Big Time Rush’s first season a few months back, and the release of the second half so soon after the first shows that Nickelodeon wishes to strike while the iron is hot. For those viewers that wish to go back and see what they may have missed the first time, this is a great thing to hear.

For those that have missed out on the show up to this point, I believe that the episodes that are captured on this DVD set are perhaps the strongest in the show’s short history. The amount of guest stars that are present (Miranda Cosgrove, Phil LaMarr) are higher and are slightly better known, while the episodes themselves showcase a much better interaction with the cast and crew. Take, for example, the closing episode of the first season. This episode, “Big Time Concert”, showcases the amount of tension and stress that is present for many young bands in the music industry. Whether the band sticks together, where they live, and whom they associate with are all up in the air with this two-part episode, and viewers will be shocked to say the least when everything closes up.

The collection of these episodes leaves only the first half of the second season left to release on DVD – if Nickelodeon continues to be on the ball, it should only be a short time before they issue this set. With some online retailers selling copies of this DVD set for less than $15, it is the perfect time to catch up on all things Big Time Rush or to introduce another individual to the show. Give it a go if you have not, or have a tween / young teen to buy for this summer.
