After playing to a packed house at Brooklyn’s famed Rock Shop, The Freeze Tag set their eyes on the future, and on the road. The night was organized under the group’s newly announced artist collective, Daylight Curfew, and saw performances by The Freeze Tag, Eka, Echoes Alike, Grimace, Cassettes Won’t Listen, and Turnbull Green, the latter of whom also turns in the latest remix from The Freeze Tag’s newly released Hamster Kid EP. Turnbull’s remix is for “The Voices,” the second song on the EP, and also the track that begins Hamster Kid’s journey as he looks to break free from artistic restriction and his capture in an underground complex. While the original laid a bed of haunting instrumentation, courtesy of Cassettes Won’t Listen, for Bisco Smith’s weaving tale, Turnbull’s remix turns things to the frenetic, with break-neck speed drums and joined by rapid percussion, all of which is balanced and contrasted by remix’s understated instrumentation.
The Freeze Tag also recently landed a highly sought-after performance on the respected radio program WNYC’s Soundcheck, syndicated nationally through NPR.
