“With a prize like Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match under his belt, be prepared to see Green go the distance.” – PopMatters.com

Selected as a member of 106 KMEL’s (the biggest Bay Area hip-hop station) Freshmen Class of 2010.

The EP:

(June 27, 2011 – Brooklyn, NY) The challenge for a fighter is not only with his opponent. It starts with confidence — with knowing you can defeat all challengers — and that confidence starts with training to develop the skills necessary for the inevitable showdown. Nothing comes easy. Hard work, focus, determination, passion, patience; the heart of a lion. Working his way towards the title fight, Moe Green, and behind him the Out Crowd, proudly bring you, Lionheart, a 10-track EP being presented by the popular hip-hop website OnSMASH along with clothing brand BRWTNSS. It’s been just over a year since the release of Green’s Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match, and since, Moe’s been hard at work, taking himself from relative unknown to widely anticipated. And it’s exactly that fast career progression that inspired the title of the new EP. “The title, Lionheart, comes from WWF/WWE wrestler Chris Jericho,” explains Moe. “It represents the type of approach you have to take in this game. I dropped Rocky Maivia because it was me saying, ‘I’m coming up.’ But I’m here now – and I’m gonna kill it.”

With Lionheart, Moe Green’s growth is clear. At 10-tracks, not only is Lionheart tighter than RM, but the new project also finds Moe at his most personal, as he opens up and lets listeners into his world in a way he hasn’t before. “I’ve gotten better as an artist; I’m more confident in what I’m doing,” says Green. “And with that, I really got more personal and diverse on this project, too. I hope people can get a good idea of who, exactly, Moe Green is.”

That diversity shows up throughout the 10-track project. Tracks like “All The Money In The World,” which features fellow Bay artist Nio Tha Gift, display Moe’s ability to touch radio, while a song like “Masterpiece” shows off Green’s deadpan lyricism. The EP speaks to dealing with the ills of Vallejo on “OWTB,” and, with “Dreamin’,” Green touches on the true inspiration for his artistry. “Dreamin’,” really sums up what I do this for,” says Moe of the track that also features singer Amy Serrata. “I speak on my parents, and how I’m trying to get them into a better position. I just put a lot of the emotions I was feeling at the time into words.”

The Background:

The challenge for a fighter is not only with his opponent. It starts with confidence — and confidence starts with training. Almost a year ago, in July 2010, Moe Green released Rocky Maivia: Non-Title Match, Green’s unofficial debut and a bold proclamation in his fight toward greatness. The release earned the Vallejo, California native strong reviews and high acclaim, as well as a coveted Show & Prove feature in XXL Magazine to go along with his spot in KMEL’s inaugural Bay Area Freshman 10 class. But nothing comes easy. And so, despite the early accomplishments, Moe Green has kept his training consistent, eschewing the big-name co-signs and instead choosing to remain the focal point of each of his releases. This includes Green’s latest release, his forthcoming EP, Lionheart, a testament to the Vallejo rapper’s continued keen focus, determination, and passion, as he continues his journey towards that title. Moe Green’s new EP, Lionheart, will be released on June 27th and is being presented by OnSMASH and BRWTNSS.
