As our alcohol review section has increased in the last few years, we have gotten the opportunity to review some impressive spirits. While we have been able to taste spirits on the long side of $100/bottle, I feel that the $50 per bottle cost of Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal represents one of the world’s best values. The spirit is considerably different than the VSOP, and represents a completely unique take on cognac. The 1738 Accord Royal immediately hits imbibers with a nose that ties together chocolate, floral, and fruity notes all while masking a delightful burn.

This burn keeps hiding through the initial sipping of the cognac, which will further expand upon the brief notes that were introduced to imbibers. The sipping side of things brings out the more smoky and woodsy feels of the 1738 Accord Royal, all while keeping the flower and citrus notes present. The burn will build up after each subsequent sip, imbuing anyone lucky enough to drink it with a heavenly glow that will not soon disappear.

While it is conceivable that individuals could go and mix it with Coke or place it into another formulation, I would contend that the 1738 Accord Royal be limited to being sipped or being drank on the rock. There are a number of different cognacs on the market that are more pricey then the 1738 Accord Royal, but I feel that this is the best balanced and most intricate cognac that we have ever tasted here at NeuFutur. If you are a fan of this type of spirit or would like to just introduce yourself to the mysteries and wonder of cognac, I simply cannot think of a better way to do so.

  1. I am now 74 years young and have tried all the best of the best of beers, wines etc. Yes I have tried all of them single malts also. I have not enjoyed anyone of them as much as I now enjoy sipping my R.M. 1738
almost every nite after dinner, it is the onlything I ever drink now. Must always have at least 4 bottles in stock.
I agree with everything in the letter above especialy the price, so please do not tell any other people about it.
