TFDI, the trio of three critically acclaimed singer-songwriters (Tony Lucca, Matt Duke and Jay Nash), is planning a national U.S. tour which kicks off in Los Angeles on August 18, 2011, and includes 18 tour stops total along both coasts (see below for complete tour schedule). Labelmate Riley Etheridge Jr. is set to open on the West Coast dates, while Benny Marchant will open on the East Coast dates. The tour is in support of TFDI’s just-released album, “When I Stop Running,” which was released digitally via Rock Ridge Music on July 19, 2011. The album, which was co-produced by the group and Rock Ridge Music President Jason Spiewak (Benjy Davis Project, Pat McGee), entered the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #62 and hit #3 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart on day of release.

Says TFDI’s Tony Lucca of the tour: “I can say this because I’ve seen a lot of shows, and I know what I speak of: there’s nothing like a TFDI show. In fact you almost can’t even call it a show. It’s more like an experience; an exciting, at times introspective though emotionally-exhilarating, out-loud-trance-like experience. Oh, and we sing songs, too. Some pretty good ones, I’d say. You should come. Enjoy yourself with us.”

Fans who want to check in with TFDI before the tour kicks off can chat with Tony Lucca and Matt Duke via webcast on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 8 p.m. eastern on www.vokle.com.

Recorded at the state-of-the-art studio at SPACE in Evanston, IL, the “When I Stop Running” sessions were organic: the three musicians sat in a circle and recorded the album live. Nine originals and three covers (Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again,” Bright Eyes’ “Lover I Don’t Have to Love” and Tom Petty’s “American Girl”) comprise the album, which is the next chapter in a story that began when the trio’s self-titled 2009 EP topped iTune’s singer-songwriter charts and became a fixture in the Top 200 for the next two years. The group began as a creative lark, but quickly turned serious after the EP took off and tour dates started selling out. Though none of them have left their solo careers unattended, the three knew that the TFDI story wasn’t over, and “When I Stop Running” continues their story.

McKeesport, PA Daily News praised the new album, saying, “Lucca, Duke and Nash have never been better than on this 12-track collection of tunes that sounds like it could have been recorded when Jackson Browne and James Taylor were ruling the roost in the early 1970s. Every song’s a winner here.” St. Louis, MO’s Riverfront Times commended their “beautiful harmonies with bluesy acoustic-guitar riffing,” and Pittsburgh’s Examiner called them “immaculately talented.” We Love DC raved, “The harmonies produced by both their instruments and their vocal chords were enough to pique any music theory majors’ interest and leave an Average Joe listener’s jaw dropped all at the same time.” The Round Table wrote, “It’s remarkable to hear three singer-songwriters come together to create original material that sounds so effortless, so organic.”
