After another year of near-constant touring including a successful spring headlining tour of the states, a US tour with Bowling for soup, SXSW for a 6th year in a row and an east coast run with The Go-Go’s, The Dollyrots are heading out again. This time the Los Angeles trio is hitting the road in support of two new releases. An EP titled Arrested Youth produced by Neal H. Pogue (Outcast, Travis Barker) as well as a split 7” with Bowling For Soup.

Arrested Youth is a departure from the trio’s previous work with a leaner, meaner tone and heavy doses of early 80’s Punk and New Wave. “Starting this project with Neal we were going for a rawer sound that would reflect the spirit of our live show,” says singer/bassist Kelly Ogden. “There was no autotune, no cut and paste and we recorded all the basic tracks live. Even if it took 50 takes to get a line right we didn’t want to rely on studio trickery to get our point across.” The Arrested Youth EP is being released on The Dollyrots’ own label Arrested Youth Records digitally August 9th and will also be available through a limited run of CD’s via the band’s website and on their upcoming tour.

The Bowling For Soup/Dollyrots split 7”, produced by Linus of Hollywood, features both bands covering each other’s songs. A Dollyrots version of Bowling For Soup’s track High School Never Ends is the A-side while Bowling For Soup lends their touch to The Dollyrots’ track Because I’m Awesome on the B-side. The digital version also features two bonus acoustic tracks. A very limited edition of 1000 records signed by both bands is available now through Bowling For Soup’s US and UK web stores and at the below tour stops.

This fall The Dollyrots plan to record their 4th full-length studio album, the follow-up to the band’s 2010 release A Little Messed Up out now on Blackheart Records, expect the new CD to street early 2012.
