Wallpaper. first got “#STUPiDFACEDD” with mtvU when they helped launch the “31 in 31” video premiere campaign, as part of MTV’s Indie Music Month programming. Now, Wallpaper. is taking over the network. Not only have they been named an MTV Featured Artist, the Oakland-based outfit has been selected for MTV’s PUSH campaign, set to launch this week, starting August 1. And, Wallpaper.’s video for their thumpin’ anthem, “#STUPiDFACEDD,” returns into steady rotation on MTV, MTV2 and Tr3s, and will also be featured in the second episode of Jersey Shore, which returns for its fourth season on August 4.
MTV PUSH is a dedicated program to announce the “Next Big Thing.” MTV scouts the hottest pop music and brings the most explosive new acts exclusively to their audiences around the world. Former PUSH artists have included Florence + The Machine, Bruno Mars and most recently fellow Oaklander, Kreayshawn.
Wallpaper.’s #STUPiDFACEDD EP was released last week via Boardwalk Records/MTV and Extreme’s HYPE MUSIC, and is receiving instant support across Rythmic and Top 40 radio stations around the country. The eight new original songs include the single and title track, “#STUPiDFACEDD,” as well as songs featuring Bay Area rap legend Too Short, and buzzing up-and-comer K. Flay.
Led by the gifted and braggadocious Ricky Reed, Wallpaper. recently stormed stages along the West Coast, leaving sweat-filled dance floors and broken hearts behind. With two sets of drums, a knockout back-up singer, infectious songs and a whole lot of sass and swagger, it was clear where this group is destined. The “Buzzworthy” band will join synth-rockers AWOLNation for their tour in August.
