Oxford, UK-based group Jonquil has released a brand new single entitled “Mexico,” featured on a 7″ vinyl split available now through Dovecote Records (The Futureheads, Hooray For Earth). Fronted by Hugo Manuel, who also performs under the solo moniker Chad Valley, Jonquil shares the 7″ with Blessing Force Collective collaborator and Jonquil bass/trumpet player Sam Scott, aka Solid Gold Dragons, who provides the track “Serious Lover.” Download the free mp3s at the Dovecote Records facebook page and purchase the vinyl at Dovecote Records.

Offering their vibrant brand of calypso-pop, Jonquil made a phenomenal US debut earlier this year playing three sold-out New York sets in 48 hours. Heading to Austin shortly after, the 4-piece performed to packed audiences at several SXSW ’11 parties and showcases. “They seemed ready to take on the states with their energetic pop,” KCRW said of one of their live SXSW sets. The group is now anticipating their stateside return for a set of scheduled performances at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon.
