Roll The Bones is one of those Rush albums that was largely forgot. I remember the title being fairly strong, as my father purchased it when it originally came out (1991). Audio Fidelity has picked up the title and is attempting to restore some of the glory that it rightfully deserves. By remastering the original tapes to a current level and placing it onto a 24K gold CD, Audio Fidelity has made a release that is as close to what the band wanted as possible.

The tracks all sound amazing, and whether it is the opening strains of “Dreamline” or the concluding arrangements of “You Bet Your Life”, one will be treated with some of the distinctive sounds of early nineties Rush. I feel that the band changed up their sound considerably from 2112 or “Tom Sawyer”, but that the compositions shine in a similar fashion when one listens to the Audio Fidelity version of this CD. Taken side by side, there are certain arrangements and other nuances that become much more active on the Audio Fidelity disc. One can purchase the normal CD copy of the Roll The Bones for a song, but there is no reason for fans of Rush to do so.

The Audio Fidelity release is miles ahead of the original retail release, and its limited edition quantity should ensure that the price will increase in the years to come. Give Roll The Bones a chance, and do so in a fashion that the band would be proud of. Audio Fidelity has some great titles coming out for the end of the year, so check out their site today.
