Sgt. Frog is the perfect example of an anime that completely went under my radar when the first few seasons were released stateside. However, Funimation has created a great boxed set for the show’s third season, and has made it readily accessible to a wide swath of fans. The show has a tremendous set of voice actors which have matched mouth movements as well as the overall tenor of the original show. For those unfamiliar with Sgt. Frog, the show focuses on the gradual weakening of the Keroro Platoon, a troop of attack soldiers that continually fail at their plans for domination. Sergeant Keroro, the leader of the platoon, has long ago stopped caring about eir mission and focuses more on time-wasting pursuits like building models. The tension between the Sergeant and the rest of eir platoon makes for interesting episodes, while the presence of the Japanese original language will bring a more authentic experience for anyone that wishes to have it.

The great thing about Sgt. Frog is that there are a number of episodes still to premier in English. The pace at which Funimation is releasing these DVDs should give viewers the opportunity to check out previous seasons along with watching the latest in the show’s saga. The show just ended in Japan earlier this year, so there is a good chance that some other bits of the storyline will be revealed in the months and years to come. Pick up this DVD set and show Funimation that there is reason to continue releasing volumes of Sgt. Frog – this is available pretty much anywhere (like FYE, neighborhood anime stores, and the like) where DVDs can be found.
