The Drums will kick off their North American tour on September 28th at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ and will be on the road in the states through November 7th. The Drums have also added two Bowery Ballroom shows in NYC and a second Echoplex show in LA.
The Drums’ stunning sophomore LP Portamento is available now through Frenchkiss Records. T Magazine called Portamento “powerful,” while The New York Times wrote, “Returns with a vengeance,” and Pitchfork states the new tracks are “carefully constructed gems.”
To accommodate the record’s sonic expansiveness, the band has expanded to a quintet live, adding two auxiliary members on guitar and bass. The additional touring musicians lend their live performances a more visceral, spontaneous feel, in line with the aesthetic of the new album, discontinuing the need for backing tracks.
The band also just revealed the fifth episode of their new Portamento-themed web series, “Visiomento” today. The Drums will upload a new episode of “Visiomento” very Tuesday through their website and YouTube page, featuring song previews, special guests, exclusive interviews, in-studio performances and more.
