The debut album from WATERS, Out In The Light arrived in stores yesterday via TBD Records. Of the album, NPR recently wrote, “Out in the Light scorches with chunky, aggressive guitars, led by a singer who pushes his voice to its upper limits”, while Drowned In Sound proclaimed it “nothing short of profound” and Filter deemed it to be an “emotional-but-still-grounded album with a hazy and heavy sound”. Out In The Light can be streamed in full all this week at AOL Music’s Spinner: http://music.aol.com/new-releases-full-cds/spinner#/27.
In conjunction with the release of Out In The Light, WATERS – the new project from former Port O’Brien front man Van Pierszalowski – premiered a cover of EMA’s song “California” yesterday on MTVHive.com and Pierszalowski’s scorching punk take on the fuzzed-out, feedback-droning original can now be downloaded as a free MP3 here: https://www.box.net/shared/kp4ibcmcu93np9pseili. Last week, Stereogum premiered the mind-bending first video – directed by Allen Cordell (Beach House, Cloud Nothings) and featuring a dreamcatcher, false teeth, knife-wielding demons, and melting faces – off the album, “For The One” (free MP3 here), which can also be viewed and embedded via here: http://vimeo.com/28996414. A second album track, “O Holy Break Of Day”, premiered early last month on RCRD LBL (free MP3 here).
