Bones is one of the prime examples of shows that can stay on the air for a number of seasons and stay fresh. This time around, I feel that the show’s creators and writers have allowed for more dynamism in the storylines of each of the show’s major and minor characters. Where there was a significant focus on the individual stories in prior series, I feel that the blending of storyline and character backstory will ensure that viewers stick firmly to their seats through each of the set’s episodes.

The amount of additional features that have been provided here will further increase the value of the boxed set. This means that there are two illuminating audio commentaries laid out for this season – The Blackout in the Blizzard and The Doctor in the Photo are given this treatment. Beyond that, there are some fun inclusions.

The gag reel breaks the fourth wall and shows viewers exactly how close-knit the cast and crew are, while I feel that “The Visual Effects of Bones” will provide a sense for exactly how much work goes into creating a realistic yet fantastic show. I find the inclusion of two extended episodes – The Bikini in the Soup and The Daredevil in the Mold – to provide more than enough in the way of further context that would not normally be present with the show. Make sure to make your way through this (and the previous five season)’s boxed sets, as the new season of Bones begins back up on November 3rd. One will only wonder which twists and turns that the show takes, and I feel that the sixth season Blu-Ray set contains enough bells and whistles to keep viewers focused in until the next season premiere.
