Mariachi El Bronx – the alter ego of acclaimed Los Angeles-based punk outfit The Bronx – will perform “Revolution Girls,” the latest single from Mariachi El Bronx (II), tonight on “Conan.” Next Tuesday, November 15, the band will appear on Fuel TV’s “Daily Habit” and swing by Los Angeles radio station KYSR for a performance in the 987FM Penthouse at the historic Hollywood Tower.

The band, which spent the past six weeks on the road with Foo Fighters, will kick off its first headlining tour of Europe next week. The Vans Off The Wall Music Night fueled by Monster Energy will launch on November 18 in Dublin, Ireland. The Bronx will also perform at several of the tour’s stops. Mariachi El Bronx will kick off 2012 in New Zealand and Australia with the Big Day Out tour. (See below for itinerary.)

Released by White Drugs/ATO Records earlier this year, Mariachi El Bronx (II)debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist chart and received four stars fromAlternative Press, which observed: “Mariachi El Bronx (II) triumphs because not only does it treat the West Mexican musical idiom with respect, it raises the bar for future directions and possibilities.” NPR’s “All Things Considered” called it “lively, and surprisingly kitsch-free.” The Los Angeles Times praised “48 Roses,” the album’s first single, for combining “the melodic pathos of Mexican regional music with the aggressive energy and self-lacerating wit of punk” while RollingStone.com said the track “ably demonstrates Mariachi El Bronx’s commitment to making music that can resonate with anyone.”

Mariachi El Bronx- comprising Matt Caughthran (vocals), Joby J. Ford (vihuela), Jorma Vik (drums), Brad Magers (trumpet), Ken Mochikoshi Horne (jarana), Vincent Hidalgo (guitarrón) and Ray Suen (violin) – was conceived in 2006, after The Bronx was asked to do an unplugged set for a television show. They performed as a mariachi band and discovered a genuine affinity for the music. 2009’s Mariachi El Bronx, their debut album, and II were both co-produced by the band with former Oingo Boingo member John Avila.
