The amount of different styles that The Fairchilds place on Our Revolution is simply stunning; the constituent band members are talented enough that they are able to create a unique and compelling sound that reaches through the majority of tracks on this album. Our Revolution begins with I Need You, a tremendously emotional track that pits vocals against instrumentation; with this antagonistic relationship, the resulting effort is pushed to the next level.

This creates in I Need You a captive body of fans, one that will eagerly lap up the opening strains of Our Revolution. This titular track is much more bold and in your face than I Need You, showcasing the same fire and fury that immediately drew listeners in to the band in the first place. Later tracks on Our Revolution, like Story of My Life, add more to the narrative side of things.

Where albums usually are understood to be the body on which a few singles sail, Our Revolution is a title that should be enjoyed from beginning to end. The disc’s penultimate track is Turn Back Time; the act is able to make a microcosm of all of the different approaches, sounds, and styles that they presented fans on this album and distill it to a five-minute run time. Pick up a copy of Our Revolution today, and see if The Fairchilds will be hitting up your area in the next few months. There is such a strong connection between front-person Cyril Niccolai and the rest of the band; when one hears a guitar, it is not only a riff – it is a complex set of interactions that include the rest of the band.
