UK electronic artist Chad Valley aka Hugo Manuel has debuted a brand new video for “Reach Lines,” taken from his Equatorial Ultravox EP, available now on experimental pop label Cascine. Manuel, who also fronts UK calypso-pop quartet Jonquil, embarked on a North American tour this past fall with Active Child and Com Truise and played a number of celebrated sets at CMJ ’11 as both Chad Valley and part of Jonquil. Both acts look forward to sharing new material this year, with Jonquil on the helm of releasing their new LP, Point of Go due out on February 21 with Dovecote Records. Both Jonquil and Chad Valley will return to SXSW Music Festival this year. More details are forthcoming.

The video for “Reach Lines” is a beautiful mélange of fluorescent colors and textured shapes, pieced together by the use of a stop frame-rotoscope. In the clip above, the tool is used to created a pre-edited sequence onto a concrete slab of Manuel’s whimsical sea garden. After releasing his solo debut EP as Chad Valley last winter, he became one of the most blogged-about artists in Europe and the US and received significant radio attention with plays across the BBC. Hugo has already performed for audiences in Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, and Budapest, and has supported acts including SBTRKT, Twin Shadow and Friendly Fires.
