Everything is coming up Mishka Shubaly. The busted songwriter turned writer had a huge 2011– his Kindle Single “Shipwrecked” went to number one over Jonathan Krakauer and David Baldacci and won him the opportunity to tell his story live for The Moth Radio Hour, which was broadcast around the country by NPR and included on The Moth’s most recent two CD collection. In October, his Kindle Single “The Long Run” rocketed to number one over Stephen King and has stayed in the top ten for three months and counting.

Still, Shubaly made time this winter to record a new track with old friends Joanna Erdos and Adrian Grenier (HBO’s Entourage).

“In ’99, he was just another dude, hanging out and making music with his friends. But when the rest of us were working in bars or just drinking in bars, Adrian was working on something else. Things are different now, for all of us, but the ‘making music with friends’ part never went away,” Shubaly says of the experience.

The video and free download of the song, “Death in Greenpoint,” premiered at http://www.wreckroomrecords.com, Grenier’s website for musicians who record in his basement studio. The studio donates the studio time to the musicians, and the songs are available for free download. The track will also appear on Mishka Shubaly’s forthcoming full-length, I Can’t Drink, due out in the summer of 2012. I Can’t Drink will be the follow-up to 2007’s How To Make A Bad Situation Worse (Terra Soul Records).

Not only did “Death In Greenpoint” premiere, so did Shubaly’s latest Kindle Single, a true account of love gone horribly awry entitled “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”
