We keep telling you, over and over, how hard MMoe Green’s been working. We probably don’t need to, though; the work speaks for itself. Moe released two EP’s in 2011, Lionheart and Free Water, and while he’s been supplying fans with a string of visuals from the latter project, all while putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming Lionheart 2 EP, this latest video is for “Deja Vu,” one of the most powerful cuts from Lionheart.
Throughout his young career, Moe has shown a penchant for getting introspective, with some of his most engaging songs giving listeners a front row seat as he works to better things for himself and those around him. With “Deja Vu,” he displays that same thoughtfulness, projecting it on the outer world. And while the song stands powerful on its own, it’s the visuals that really drive the track home. Directed by Brian Storm, the video is largely shot in grayscale, and follows a young prostitute through the streets of Moe’s hometown, Vallejo, California, as she quests for something more. “The whole idea was to convey the day-to-day of someone who feels like they’re constantly in a hamster wheel of some sort,” says Moe, explaining the inspiration for the video. “It’s hard to break the cycle of a downward spiral.”
