The amount of care that MGM put into this version of Sid & Nancy makes it into one of the best Collector’s Editions / reissues that we have reviewed for NeuFutur. The grim, gritty feeling of the movie is restored to its original film quality, while the soundtrack feels much more visceral and in your face than it did on either VHS or DVD formats of the film.

For individuals that wish to have a better context about the film, its subjects, and the specific sphere in which it was created, MGM has placed a number of featurettes. The original theatrical trailer is present, while For the Love of Punk is a quarter hour of interviews from the individuals that actually lived the sotry that is covered here. An additional quarter-hour feature is present in Junk Love, which focuses much more heavily about the life and times of Sid & Nancy. Taken all together, this edition of Sid & Nancy will get a lot of spins, depending on the hang-out or party atmosphere that is present. For those that want the serious aspect of the film to shine through, just spin it in a quiet house and let the different nuances hit you.

Make sure to check out some of the larger online retailers for the Collector’s Edition of Sid & Nancy. It can be picked up for less than $18. This film is great, it stands the test of time, and should be required viewing for anyone that was a fan of the Sex Pistols. Here’s to hoping that different movies about the Sex Pistols (Great Rock and Roll Swindle, possibly) make it to the Blu-Ray format in the years to come.
