There is so much to learn about The Doors. The band hit a wall with the death of Jim Morrison, and the different interviews between Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robbie Krieger show that. However, the process that the band entered into when they were recording L.A. Woman was nothing different than the norm. One gets into the mind of each of The Doors as they laid some of the band’s best-known tracks (Love Her Madly, L.A. Woman, Break Through) for the album (live efforts are also present).
What results in Mr. Mojo Rising is a multi-media format between interviews in the current period, studio footage, and live cuts from some storied shows. This film will fill the gaps in fans of The Doors’ collections, while acting as the perfect starting place for someone that wants to get into the band. The footage varies in quality considerably, but one has to consider that the home video realm was still in its infancy.
What results in Mr Mojo Rising is some of the most compelling and inspirational of The Doors’ performances. This is made all the more saccarhine considering the fact that Jim Morrison passed soon after these clips were created. Eagle Rock has placed this release on both Blu-Ray and DVD, ensuring that the mythos of one of the world’s best-known psychedelic rock bands can be preserved.
