The Norwegian group DJERV — whose self-titled 2011 debut, praised by Metal Hammer as “an innovative melding of Metallica and Garbage,” was finally released in North America last week — has been confirmed to support the legendary Ministry on the European leg of their “Defibrillatour” this summer. A complete list of tour dates — including a series of Norwegian concerts alongside labelmates Dunderbeist this month — appears below.

Drawing equally from black metal and alternative rock, DJERV’s debut album was engineered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames) and produced by Grammy winner Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children of Bodom). Upon its release, it cracked the Norwegian Top 10 and earned rave reviews from European media. The powerful vocals of Agnete Kjølsrud were singled out by Metal Hammer as “unique and fearless,” likely one reason why Dimmu Borgir invited the former Animal Alpha singer to guest on their latest “Abrahadabra” album and appear in the music video for their song “Gateways.”

According to drummer Erlend Gjerde, DJERV strives “to explore the borderlines between rock, metal and on some tracks there are more or less obvious black metal references. The overall sound is quite stripped down, groove-oriented and melodic, yet it has some of those cold black metal-influenced riffs accompanying the dark moods of the music. We are very happy with the way it turned out; now we`re just anxious to get on the road and present it to as many people as possible.”

DJERV’s music video for the song “Madman” can be viewed on the “band page” tab of their Facebook or on YouTube.
