Brooklyn’s Milagres has been catching the attention of many since the release of the their sophomore album Glowing Mouth last fall via Kill Rock Stars. The band recently stopped by NPR for a Tiny Desk Concert where they played a selection of tracks from the album including one of Bob Boilen’s favorite songs from 2011 “Halfway.” Additionally the band recorded a session at the Filter / Dickies showroom where they performed “Here To Stay.” Watch and share that video here.

Since its release Glowing Mouth received praise from Spin, Interview Magazine, NPR, Filter, Village Voice, CBS News, The Guardian, BBC, MTV Hive and more. Milagres announced a spring tour in support of the release that will include stops at the SXSW Music Festival and Primavera Sound in May. The full list of tour dates is below.

The musical scope of the Glowing Mouth is big and due to the piano-based melodies and soaring falsettos, press has compared the band to artists as diverse as Grizzly Bear and Prince, demonstrating the wide breadth of Milagres material. The first single, “Glowing Mouth”, is a slow-burner made for dancing close on a hot summer night, whereas “Here To Stay” has a keyboard hook that won’t let you sleep. Kyle Wilson has a knack for writing dreamy story songs that also pack a punch in both chorus and melody. Songs like “Gentle Beast” and “Gone” suck you in and then haunt you for days afterwards – this is an album that stays with you.

“Glowing Mouth is a polished, well-arranged album that could find a happy home in countless collections.” – BBC

Glowing Mouth is a studious song, carefully measured with piping organ notes, a heavy synth line, and ghostly, beautiful falsetto vocals singing a fluid, heart-melting melody.” – Seattle Weekly

“KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley tells me he predicts big things for this band” – KCRW Music Blog
