In Cages are an incredibly eclectic rock act that looks to challenge the stuffiness of the genre. Their unique style ensures that listeners will take note, while their attention to detail and sheer musical ability will make a fan out of anyone. Dirty Water blends catchy arrangements with a down and dirty style; putting the guitars at front and center ensures that listeners stick around for the long haul. In Cages are one of the few bands that can make the EP format work; where bands are typically able to showcase one or two defining features, I believe that the four cuts contained on this disc provide listeners with an accurate assessment about where the band has been (overall influences) and will be.

Queen Bee is In Cages’ take on modern rock. The emotion provided the track by Lionnel’s vocals is simply superb, matching in overall momentum and intensity the instrumental arrangements. In just a few minutes, In Cages have mastered the genre. Empowered due to their success with Queen Bee, I believe the band reaches their creative zenith on Walk Away. In Cages’ scintillating and shifting style bolsters this psychedelic meets indie rock track; I feel that repeat listens to the guitar arrangements will continually reward listeners.
